18x24 Oil on Canvas - Completed May 7 2011 - Original composition by Les Bryant - - - Original composition by Les Bryant - This painting was inspired by my childhood memories. It seamed like I always needed a haircut, but I could hardly ever manage to get one. My parents would send me off to the barbershop, but there always seemed to be some reason I could not get it cut. Then I would have to face my parents displeasure when I got home. Could I help it if I played to long, and when I finally got to the barbershop it was closed! How about the time I spent most of the money elsewhere, as a result I had to go to the Barber College for a cheep one dollar cut, The student barber took a few cuts and I heard. "Ooops!" He looks around all sneaky like, tells me he forgot something urgent he had to do. He then insisted there is no one else available who could cut my hair, then rushed me out the door telling me to come back some other time. Well my parents were really disgusted by that hair cut and made a new rule "Don't go to the Barber College so you can spend most of the money on other things." I spent the rest of the week with all the other kids laughing about the big chunk of hair missing from the back of my head. - This boy has other problems. He gets to the barber shop just before closing, but he is barefoot, and they won't take him. There is no time to get home and put his shoes on. - Not only is he worried about what his parents will say but there those bothersome signs. Perhaps he is worried about putting his money in his pocket, after all there are pickpockets about. Is he worried about loose women. Wow! This place just does not feel very safe, with those mysterious loose women running around, my goodness what could they be? Are the dangerous? - Well..... He has some money, maybe he will just go by the store on his way home and buy some candy.... - All in fun. - Hope you enjoy. - Les
