Thank you Web1tracer, that is a real compliment. Though I tend to think of Vermeer in terms of very light paintings, he was famous for putting his subjects against off white walls. I think Rembrant when I think of images emerging from shadow. still it is a great compliment that one of my paintings make you think of an old master work.

Yes Rembrandt was the master of light emerging from the shadows. That really struck me when I saw the Nightwatch live (as opposed to a tiny reproduction). But I believe you captured the tranquility of Vermeer here.

I vividly remember the day I saw Nightwatch. I was about 13 years old, it was a cloudy day, I went into the room and was admiring the painting, then the sun came out and it almost seemed to come to life. I was so moved by the experience that when I returned home I sought out an art teacher that had been trained in Holand.
