He was definitely loveable. He was so good, that he sort of reminds you of an Oliver Twist. Not that he was an orphan, or anything. That was really the point of the movie. He could never be a Bobby Fischer. He was too good. His dad did come around. His real father is the one who wrote the book. I forget which one, but one of the Chessmasters has the real Josh Waitzkin giving chess lessons.

Great movie, i have the dvd. fishburne, kingsley, mantegna and little josh are a super cast.

I love the movie. Kingsley does a great job. Actually, everyone does a pretty good job. In one of the pc chess games. grandmaster or something. Josh is doing a tutorial, and explains those last chess moves in the championship. I think I remember that right.

He was also in Fluke. It's not near as good a movie though. His chess friend was in Indian in the Cupboard. You should post a list of movies.

It's out of print? Let's see...You can get it from Amazon, from a third party seller. I've had good luck with most of them. Sometimes you get a DVDR.
