The magazine published a spread with reactions from the public, as reflected in reader letters to mainstream media in 1969 (click to enlarge): Roswitha R. in Kaiserslautern writes: “For me as a mother, these people are criminals – no matter how moral or respectable they are. I demand for the protection of my son: Quickly do away with (lit. ‘make the process short with’) these misfits of the human society!!!”

Du & Ich replies that considering the harder laws regarding youth protection, the magazine will continue fighting for its pedophile readers, this “minority within a minority”. They assure the reader that “the engagement for our pedophile readers is firmly rooted in our editorial statutes, this will definitely not change.”

Du & Ich Magazine still publishes. But it is a very different magazine now. The new editorial board definitely does not remember the promises which this magazine made back 35 years ago. Nor did they do ANYTHING to oppose the neo-fascist E.U. Directive 2011-92-EU, which made ALL E.U. member states to adopt an 'AGE OF PROTECTION' of 18 all across the E.U.

The movie is a classic “warn boys of the homosexual danger” kind of movie, pretty much like the now infamous Boys Beware. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boys_Beware Today we look back upon such movies as hopelessly homophobic and behind the times. Yet similar rhetoric and aesthetics are still pretty much around if the danger is defined as pedophiles instead of homosexuals.

Du&Ich was the MOST POPOLAR GAY MAGAZINE in Germany for decades. In the 1970s there was NO difference between those gays wo prefer teenagers and young men, and those who prefer elder men. Du&Ich ceased circulation some time ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DU&ICH

Ziegler was also an actor and a playwright. He was well-connected or charming enough to convince a number of huge stars to give interviews for Du & Ich, including Zarah Leander and Mick Jagger. (A more substantial story on Du & Ich and Alexander Ziegler can be read in Destroyer 08.) Ziegler was also a criminal, according to the Swiss law of the time (yes, Ziegler was Swiss). When he was 22 years old he was sentenced to prison for two years because of having had sex with a 16 year old, namely, his boyfriend. (I guess Dan Savage would have been really happy to see Ziegler “go away for a long, long time”, all while the rest of the gay movement fought to abolish these discriminatory laws.)
