In Ireland no, they all wear a uniform usually grey pants (long) some colour jumper shirt and tie, in the UK some of the prep school still wear shorts to the knee.

I attended a Catholic private primary school here late 70-80s as part of our uniform we wore short pants to school to age 13 back then they were worn very short it was only the private schools wore them back then.

I have no problem with that but it has to be compulsory to all schools ,when I went to school it was only our school whore short pants I can still remember the embarrassment at 12 & 13 as other kids much younger than you teased pinch and slapped your legs and made fun of you afterwards ,so the only way this would work is to make it compulsory.

I known it works in south Africa In almost all of the schools the boys wear shorts (to the knee) until they leave school I would prefer 80 s styles short pants on all boys I could never see it working in Europe or North American.

It be beautiful to see I know in the UK in the summer the kids want to wear short pants but the schools won't allowed them (it's all part of the child protection thing)everyone working with kids is so frightened of being accessed of something I don't blame them for the ban.
