many kids with weak legs have strong arms. Some realize that it helps to develop other upper body talents. Parents shouldn't dwell on the handicap, but should encourage development in some other activities to help build confidence and acceptance.

Just read some of the earlier posts. I know lots of guys who use sticks or poles while boarding, for speed, balance, and to keep them from totally crashing. It is quite common to use cross country poles for sk8 boarding aides. Some parks even require it for safely reasons for younger or less experienced boarders.
