It is always a shame when self-appointed do-gooders come along and change, desecrate, or destroy works of art. It doesn't matter if it is self-righteous Puritans, or Taliban religious zealots. Times change, but works of art reflect the period in which they were created and should be left unmolested.

Thank you for your comment, my Friend! Fully agree with you. The act committed by the Russian Orthodox puritans to Apollo who decoreates the facade of Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, is comparable to the act of Talibans when they destroyed a statue of Buddah in Afganistan 12 years ago (as they cannot tolerate ANY depiction of a human being). Piecies of different cultures should be fully preserved. Pity that in the Moscow case there was no objection by UNESCO or other similar international organizations...
