This is a print scan; the previous one a negative scan. It's been 20 years since I did that negative scan, and I think I can do a better job now.

I've found that HQ negative scans allow me to really work in Photoshop at huge resolutions. It would cut down on that hot spot on her leg. The print scan shows just how rich the color palette of the film was. Great skin tones without too much red while still giving a nice, solid green for the grass.

I appreciate the tips. The negative scan was fairly low resolution by an amateur lab. I really should go back and re-scan it with my equipment. Don't have much free time however. I think the film was Fuji NPS, which controlled high contrast situations very well.

Good question. We've allowed them to go their own ways at too-young an age. By the time they've become young teens, they've already seen, heard and done everything, and it shows on their faces before they even hit 20.

As always, the skin tones and color gamut of film you uses is natural, soft and pleasing. Sara is a big girl! I love her. She looks like the catcher in softball: the one you don't want to have to go toe-to-toe with 'cause she'll knock you on your butt.

Very cute boy. Love to think he grew a long tail (rat-tail) when they were popular in the 80's. Become my favorite hairstyle seeing a boy with that long strip of hair down his back. The longer it grew the better looking it would be. I knew one boy that grew his tail so long that the end of it would curl on the seat when he sat down in a chair. Good looking boy too.

You're probably right; I never thought about that. I knew the names of most of the kids, but some I didn't, She was so cute, I always wanted to label her photo correctly. Maybe I'll retitle the photo to "Jen".

Mid-90's. Coach Bill (Schmidt) was the coach for many years at the York (PA) YMCA. He passed away in the 90's, after swimming laps. He was a nationally recognized swimmer and coach.

What an absolutely beautiful child!! I may take more photos of girls and very young women nowadays (as you know, for me, a 20 year old girl is still a kid), but I still look back at the beauty of the boys I photographed with fondness. Why is it such a crime nowadays to appreciate the beauty of youth?
