My boarding school was Spartan, we would line up in the wash house in our baggy briefs... In the middle of winter, no heating to speak of and some school master in an over coat telling us to, "Get a move on or he'd warm our undies with his slipper." I hoped he would... At least something would be warm in that god forsaken ice box.

Ours was definitely not spartan..fully centrally heated with lots of hot water. Quite happy to swap reminiscences if you want..lol

A schoolmaster's study in the 1960s was not visited for nice cups of tea, biscuits and a friendly chat. It was a place where boys were given six of the best... (Six well aimed, follow through strokes of the cane that stung like the devil.) Masters were not allowed to paddle or cane our bare bottoms, but flimsy cotton briefs were next to useless as protection from a severe whacking... They don't cane boys these days... They don't know how lucky they are!

The 1930s was basically the spanking era... The Victorians were more whipping orientated, with birch rods and the like... 30s parents just put their offspring over their knees and tanned their bottoms hard... and no questions asked.

School showers were always hot and steamy, even in the middle of winter. I loved sport, PE and taking hot showers. Can't say I loved anything else at boarding school.

Junior boys were well looked after by the decent older boys in my boarding school. It wasn't the cold, or the bullying, or the cane that upset them the most... It was home sickness. I empathised because I never got used to being away from home myself.

With me it was the bullying...I was never really homesick and at prep-school the cane never really bothered me. Good pictures though here. "Feet in the sink" brinks back memories

I remember jock straps being really useful under my gym knickers at school, they also came in handy when a bare bottomed spanking was due... Modesty was my middle name!
