Yes; age matters! Your boys are more "young men" than "boys";of course, they are handsome, but to my point of view, they lost the tenderness and cuteness of preteen boys! That thing making a little boy so lovely is missing for ever on older boys!

You are SO right in everything you have said here. When puberty hits a transformation takes place that is far more than just a maturity and sexual awakening. Personality changes and you are right. The tenderness and cuteness goes away. I have seen countless beautiful boys who have grown into homely adult men. Personalities often go from lovable kids to less than lovable adults. I admit to finding boys beautiful. But I respect them as BOYS and not miniature adults. When you take away boyhood you ruin the BOY in boyhood. I treasure boys for who and what they are.

Thank you for this clever comment! A French author, banned at now from politically correct world said in the years 1960 that little boys are the "3rd sex"! Not men, not girls, of course...they are special creatures inspiring love and dreams. Little boys have a special place in humankind!
