I have always loved Art and Architecture. A trait i get from my Father who was a History NUT !!! He was always taking us on trips to visit some ancient monument, house or museum/gallery. Sound boring for a little kid but he would make it exciting and often setup treasure hunts...we were like little Indiana Jones's LOL. Stayed with me forever and i even ended up getting a degree in History and a BA in Fine Arts .

A friend of mine let me stay in his hut in Gaeta. This was probably late 80's. It was below the church San Francesco, maybe Via Angioina? That's my backpack to the right, which I still use occasionally.

Franco is related to the owners of Pizzeria da Emilio (elsewhere in this album). He was married to Doriana (kid photos in "Bambini...70's earlier/later). There are slightly older photos of his daughter, Dalila, in the "Bambini...90's" album. There are also photos of his other two kids, Lavinia and Alfredo, in the same album.

Italia, yes THAT'S HER NAME. Mussolini was paying some lire to parents in the 1940's (when she was born) who gave their children patriotic names. This was at the Oratorio Salesiano in the church San Francesco.

I think this is the last one I have of the "Nave Caiattas" - a pizza restaurant I worked on while I was attending studies at "L'Universita' di Napoli". Nave = ship; Caiattas = the old name for Gaeta.

Mr. Scipione is the father of Umberto Scipione - a well known composer, musician in Italia: https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umberto_Sc ipione. There are a couple of kid pix of Umberto in "Bambini...90's". I was living in the same "palazzo" as them in the 70's when I was in the USN.

Series of 4 fotos of nuns "cavorting" on the main beach, Serapo, in Gaeta. This series of photos was some of the first I took when I arrived there with the US Navy at the end of 1969. It was featured prominently in my photo show at Penn State in 1977-78. Taken with a Leica M2 and 90mm Tele-Elmarit.

I traveled with these young ladies on the train to the Universita' by train in the early 1970's. "Capitaneria" is the harbormaster, the office who oversees all port activities. The "Scuola Nautica" is part way up the hill in the background. The boys who were jumping off the dock were behind me that ssame year. The two girls swimming at Porto Santa Maria in 1979 were in the area where all the fishing boats are. Tiziana, the 15-year-old, was "posing" right among those fishing boats in 1996 and 1997. Davide was also in that approximate location (Porto Santa Maria) in 1986.

Let's see we'll have to coordinate closely. Use the email on my website (madaiostudios.com). I'm considering renting out an apartment in Autumn and staying there for three months. Then I'll ask for permanent residency. Because of all the illegal immigrants from Africa, they're making it harder for residency.
