Falling and getting up, getting hurt, it's all part of growing up and will always remain that way. I don't see anything cruel about it, no boy has ever died from minor blood loss.

It happens they cry when that's painful, but most of the times they are proud since every wound helps them to grow and be a respected warrior...But anyway, they remain kids and need hugs (when nobody watches!!)

it reminds me of our younger days so many years ago, we were proud of scars we received during rough games or some slaps we received and handed out in fights with boys from another gang. A hug from mother was necessary, but if other friends saw this, we would be considered wimps. Nothing new under the sun.
