We almost use a sort of little rubber pump to wash the inside of the ears with soapy water...Very efficient and less dangerous than introducing some stick

Yeah I know that technique, in fact I used to live with someone who blew out her ears with an ear syringe. Looked awful and IMO more pressure. I use a Qtip (a recent vid demonstrated Q-tips) and you have to know the anatomy of the ear canal: to far in may puncture the eardrum. Painful but curable. I like your soapy water though. We used to (or this surgeon did) flush the ear canal with "betadine." I questioned the method but he said ears are dirty...so it's ok. Thanks.

When we spend vacations at the beach, that's incredible how much dirt my boys have in their ears: salt, sand...Back home I wash their ears with the pump and warm soapy water till nothing more coming out the ears!
