The Irish Hunger Memorial is a public work of art located at North End Avenue and Vesey Street in Battery Park City. Containing stones from each of Ireland’s 32 counties, it was conceived of and designed by artist Brian Tolle and intended to be a contemplative space devoted to raising awareness of the Great Irish Hunger and Migration of 1845-1852. The Memorial was dedicated in July 2002, and is open from 6:00am-1:00am daily.
