The only thing we ever did was play with toy-soldiers (the lead kind that were painted). That was his thing. Also we went to the state fair together each year (coming up in a few weeks). We both had single parents so maybe the attraction? He was also German...maybe also the attraction?

"What a pity?" I grew up in a boring city where most people look at the pavement...ie, no eye contact. Now I live in the mountains with lots of sunshine. People are happier and more engaging. Is there much eye contact with Germans hispania?
