Two things that stand out. None of these children is overweight. If you were to take photos at a swimmeet now more than half would be verging on obese.The other noticeable thing: no black kids at all in these clubs. I wonder if this has changed at all?

I think now kids are over-privileged and don't think they have to work hard to get ahead - so they don't take care of their of their health and figure. At that time they were all hard-working athletes and trim. I also know at that time it was mostly a caucasian area (the West Shore of Harrisburg PA), with the black areas being on the other side of the Susquehanna, - near the capitol.
