Haarlem - between Amsterdam and Zaandvoort. I think the canal is called the Spaarn.

Oh so nice the nostalgic pictures from my country! And yes, you're right: this is the Spaarne, the main river of Haarlem.

I have quite a few of my old travel photos that I'm trying to get scanned. During the 80's and 90's, every 2 years I would take a plane from Kennedy to Amsterdam, Paris or Barcelona, then use a Eurailpass to slowly go down to Gaeta. I would have a rucksack and tent, and campout during the travels.

You made beautiful adventurous journeys back then. Unfortunately I'm too old now to make such trips, so now I have to enjoy myself with your beautiful travel reports!

I think I could still do it at 74; but now it's more of a money problem and family problem (Sister has cancer).

I took the time out and posted 10 more photos of the Netherlands. I think the first 7 were all taken in Amsterdam.
