I was doing available light, mostly with TMax 3200 and an 85mm f/1.8 lens. Not only do I miss the girls, I also miss doing photography with that type of equipment. The smartphone toting idiots now wouldn't have any idea of what I'm talking about. No wonder shots like these are almost impossible to find.

That's also what I miss about film photography. Your photos have that specific look that's hard to get with digital, although recently there are algorithms in iPhones that mimic the look of shallow depth of field, but they leave blurry edges on the foreground subject. I don't shoot film anymore, but I use an Olympus OMD EM-5 II with just a 50mm equivalent pancake lens for the same effect as your photo here. It's good to see the work of a photographer who's been at it since the darkroom days and understands exposure.

I use a Nikon D80 now (even that's considered out-of-date), which are great for landscapes and typical travel photos, but not for this type of photography.

The D80 is a great camera. I'm actually using a mirrorless Nikon and I'm finding it quite amazing. Seems they've finally caught up with Canon in features in the digital side.
