Although this was only 5 years ago, I have undergone strange transformations: my country has adopted all the worst laws the U.S. has introduced; any personal contact in my country became impossible; when travelling I also started to avoid any contacts in person; I also nmentally grew old; lost a job, and can no longer think of crazy adventures I had in the past...

Yes I understand, I think it had to do more with one's state of mind. But at least you can always say that you had all these "crazy adventures" that others can only dream about.
