This is a normal swimsuit for swimming pools here in Europe. Cotton underware was banned in the swimming pools, as cotton left somethinng that spoiled the water circulation in the pool water tubes. But people as a matter of fashion decided to use the same non-cotton underware also on the beaches in Europe. I know that in the USA people bath in the very long shorts, also as a matter of fashion. But initially, only some 50-70 years ago most people bathed naked everywhere - but - people have a short memory and do not remember much.

You are right about short memory. While I was growing up my family belonged to a swim clubs where almost all the boys, a nice handfull of the men, wore the speedo type swimsuits. No one thought anything of it. Last summer I returned as an adult and as a guest to this club. In the locker room one boy was bbeing teased being made fun of because his swimsuit was a speedo and they were wearing long swim shorts or boardies. Well, thanks for the history. I called this very good looking boy's bathing suit interesting because I liked the suit and he looks great wearing it. Thanks for sharing.
