Route 66, The Mother Road, is alive, well, and growing once again. This is American history - living history - which is being experienced by hundreds of thousands of travelers once again. Paralleling Interstate 40 (in some cases less than 50 feet away from the Interstate), The Mother Road starts in Chicago, Illinois (Eastern Terminus) and ends at the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California. I am photographing The Mother Road in reverse (California to Illinois) for the purposes of a photojournalistic book. Moreover, I now live in California instead of Illinois. The Mother Road is the adventure my family always traveled when coming West to visit the California relatives back in the '50s and '60s. Enjoy the ride, again, on The Mother Road as history comes to life. All images: copyright © 2009-2016 SunRidge Photo/Richard S Hockett. All images in this album are available for purchase.
