Many Thais believe that on every piece of property, in every building, a spirit resides. Spirits are not to be feared, but more as mischievous rascals who like to play tricks on humans. If a home is not provided for the spirit, the spirit will live in your home or building - and you do not want that, or life will be miserable. Many believe that spirits are young boys, and make sure toys and sweets are offered at the spirit house.
